Hello Again

It's been awhile. I've been busy. I've been traveling and working. Tanzania, Mexico, Costa Rica, an Internet company based in Montana, the local hospital and now an Independent Living Center.

Summers over

Kids are back in school, the garden is being harvested  and most of the summer fun is over here in Alaska. I'll be back posting soon.

St. Helens Blast Said Possible Within Days

A small explosion of rocks, ash and steam could occur within the next few days within the crater of Mount St. Helens, where earthquake activity has been steadily building for nearly a week, scientists said Tuesday.

In 1979, when I was obviously veeery young, I built trails on the north slope of Mt. St. Helens. Those trails are now all in Yakima.

Getting Married, buying and selling houses

Jane and I are getting married on July 10 in Talkeetna, Alaska. We are selling a place in Anchorage and Fairbanks and buying a place in Fairbanks. I won't be posting much over the next few (or last few) weeks. Got a few things on my mind. See stress.

We're back!

The trip to Puerto Rico was wonderful. Great beaches (some with wheelchair access), bioluminescent bays , jungles, history and great people.

We're working on a family trip website, I'll post it when we're done.

Challenge Alaska

I spent the last week or so in Anchorage. The kids were going skiing so I thought I'd give it a shot. I took lessons with Challenge Alaska.

Challenge Alaska built and operates the International Sports, Recreation and Education center in Girdwood, Alaska.

Girdwood is also the location of Alyeska Ski Resort, one of Alaska's premier downhill ski slopes. One of Girdwood's most famous products is former Olympic skiing champion Tommy Moe.

Challenge Alaska is a non-profit organization that provides sports and therapeutic recreation opportunities for those with disabilities. Challenge Alaska believes that everyone, regardless of physical ability, should have an equal chance at recreational opportunities.

Exhilarating physical recreation is crucial aspect of early rehabilitation and life-long well-being. It is an important track to improved mobility, increased self-confidence, and development of specific skills. We hope to give our participants the skills and confidence needed to eventually partake in these activities independently.

I had a great time, the instructors were great, but I think downhill skiing is off my list of things I can do. Oh well...
